What is a Digital Certificate for Legal Entities?
The digital certificate for legal entities is an electronic document issued by FNMT (National Currency and Stamp Factory) that accredits the digital identity of a company, association, homeowner community, or other entity with legal personality. It allows legal representatives to sign electronic documents and conduct online procedures on behalf of the organization with full legal validity.
To obtain it, the legal representative must accredit their position through a power of attorney deed or registry registration. This is where the notary intervenes: verifying the representative's identity, position, and powers of representation. The certificate is valid for 2 years and allows operations with Tax Authority, Social Security, commercial registries, banks, and any Public Administration.
