Frequently asked questions

What exactly is signature authentication?

Signature authentication is a notarial act through which a notary certifies that a digital signature on a document belongs to the person who claims to have made it. The notary attests that they witnessed the signature or that the person acknowledged the signature as their own before them.

In its online format, this procedure applies exclusively to digital signatures and provides legal security and validity. It is especially useful for technical documents, employment contracts, authorizations, and documents that must be presented to public institutions.

Does it have the same legal validity as doing it in person?+

Yes, absolutely. Signature authentication performed online with a registered notary has exactly the same legal validity as that performed in person at a physical notary office.

The process is regulated by current notarial regulations and the resulting document has full legal effect throughout Spain and can be presented to any public or private body.

How long does the complete process take?+

The complete process is done in less than 24 hours from when you request the service:

  • Video conference with the notary: 15-20 minutes
  • Preparation of notarial deed: 2-4 hours
  • Delivery of authenticated document: maximum 24 hours

In urgent cases, we can speed up the process so you have your authenticated document the same day.

What documents do I need to authenticate a signature online?+

To authenticate a signature online you need:

  • Valid ID, residence card, or passport
  • The document containing the signature to be authenticated (in digital format)
  • Digital certificate or electronic signature (we help you obtain it if you don't have one)
  • Stable internet connection for the video conference
How much does it cost to authenticate a signature online?+

The price varies depending on the type of document and the complexity of the procedure. In general, online signature authentication is more economical than the in-person process because we optimize time and resources.

Contact us to receive a personalized quote with no obligation. We guarantee complete transparency in costs, with no surprises or hidden fees.

Can I authenticate signatures of multiple people on the same document?+

Yes, it is possible to authenticate the digital signatures of multiple people on the same document. Each signer must participate in the video conference with the notary to verify their identity and certify their signature.

This is especially useful in employment contracts with multiple parties, joint authorizations, or technical documents requiring signatures from several professionals.

Is the authenticated document valid for international procedures?+

Yes. The document with signature authentication is valid in Spain and can be used internationally. For use in countries that are part of the Hague Convention, we can process the corresponding apostille.

The apostille is a seal that certifies the authenticity of the notarial document for recognition in more than 120 countries. We help with this additional procedure if you need it.

What is the difference between signature authentication and electronic signature?+

They are different concepts:

  • Digital signature authentication: It is the notarial certification that an electronic signature belongs to a specific person.
  • Electronic signature: It is a digital signing method that allows documents to be signed electronically.

Important: Online signature authentication only applies to digital signatures, not handwritten signatures. For handwritten signatures, you must visit a notary office in person.

Do I need technical knowledge to complete the online procedure?+

No, the process is very simple and designed to be accessible to anyone. You only need:

  • To know how to send emails and attach files
  • To be able to connect to a video call (we send you a direct link, no installations)
  • To have your ID and the document to authenticate at hand

Our team guides you through each step and resolves any technical questions you may have.

Is it safe to send my personal documents over the internet?+

Completely safe. We use state-of-the-art encryption systems to protect all your data and documents. Additionally:

  • Notaries are subject to professional secrecy
  • We comply with GDPR and all data protection regulations
  • Your documents are stored on secure servers with restricted access
  • Once the procedure is completed, you can request deletion of your data
Can I authenticate documents in any language?+

Yes, even if the document is in another language, the notary can authenticate the signature. However, it is advisable to provide a sworn translation of the content so the notary can verify that it is not an illegal document or contrary to Spanish regulations.

If you need a sworn translation, we can put you in touch with trusted official translators.

What happens if I detect an error after receiving the document?+

If you detect any error in the authenticated document, contact us immediately. We will review the case and, if the error is ours, we will correct it at no additional cost.

It is important that you carefully review the document before using it to ensure all data is correct.

What is the difference between legitimizing a signature and notarizing a document as a public deed?+
Legitimation certifies that the signature is yours; converting a document into a public deed turns the entire document into a notarial instrument. We advise you on which one your case requires.
Is it valid for use abroad?+
Yes, with a Hague Apostille when required by the destination country.
What do I need?+
The document to be signed, your valid identification, and a digital certificate for the qualified electronic signature.
Do documents signed online have the same validity as those signed in person?+
Exactly the same. Law 11/2023 recognises the full legal validity of notarial documents executed by video call with a qualified electronic signature before a registered notary.
Do I need a digital certificate?+
Yes, to sign electronically you need a digital certificate or an electronic DNI. If you do not have one, we help you obtain it quickly before your appointment, with no additional handling fee.
Can I do it from abroad?+
Yes, the notarial video call works from any country. You only need a stable connection, your valid identity document and a digital certificate.
How much does this service cost?+
The quote includes the official notarial fees set by the Notarial Association plus our handling, fixed before you start and with no hidden costs. Request it with no obligation via WhatsApp or the form.
What if I have questions during the process?+
Our team supports you from start to finish via WhatsApp, phone or email, and the notary answers all your legal questions before signing.
