Frequently asked questions

What exactly is the Hague Apostille?
It is a seal or certification issued by a competent authority that legalizes Spanish public documents for use in countries that signed the 1961 Hague Convention. It simplifies international legalization by eliminating the need for consular procedures.
What documents can be apostilled?+
All public documents: academic degrees, civil registry certificates (birth, marriage, death), criminal record certificates, notarial deeds, powers of attorney, court judgments, Commercial Registry certificates, official administrative documents, etc.
In which countries is the apostille valid?+
In over 120 countries that signed the 1961 Hague Convention, including all EU countries, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Australia, Japan, China, among many others. Check the complete list on our platform.
How long does the apostille process take?+
It depends on the option: standard (7-10 business days), priority (3-5 business days), or urgent (24-72 business hours). Deadlines begin after document validation.
Can I process the apostille from abroad?+
Yes, our service is 100% online. You can request and manage the apostille from any country in the world. You just need to send us the scanned document and you will receive the apostille by email.
How much does it cost to apostille a document?+
The price includes official fees from the competent body (variable by document), our management fees, and review and tracking service. It varies by option chosen. Request a quote with no obligation.
Is the apostilled document in digital format valid?+
Yes, the apostilled document in certified digital format has full international legal validity and is accepted by public and private organizations in Convention countries. If a physical original is required, we can send it by courier.
Which body issues the apostille in Spain?+
It depends on the document: the Ministry of Justice for judicial and Civil Registry documents, the Notarial Colleges for notarial deeds, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for administrative documents. We identify the correct body.
Do I need to legalize the document before apostilling?+
Some documents require prior notarial legalization (certified copies, signature authentication). Our legal review identifies if this is necessary and we also handle that prior procedure online.
Does the apostille have an expiration date?+
The apostille itself does not expire, but the apostilled document may have limited validity according to the receiving country and body. For example, criminal record certificates usually require recent issuance (3-6 months). Check the destination country's requirements.
Which documents can be apostilled?+
Spanish public documents: notarial, judicial, official academic records and Civil Registry certificates. Each type is apostilled by a different authority; we take care of identifying the right one.
How long does it take?+
Between 3 and 10 business days depending on the type of document and the authority involved. We'll let you know the exact timeframe once we receive your request.
What if the destination country isn't part of the Hague Convention?+
In that case, consular legalization is required, a different process that we can also help guide you through.
Do documents signed online have the same validity as those signed in person?+
Exactly the same. Law 11/2023 recognises the full legal validity of notarial documents executed by video call with a qualified electronic signature before a registered notary.
Do I need a digital certificate?+
Yes, to sign electronically you need a digital certificate or an electronic DNI. If you do not have one, we help you obtain it quickly before your appointment, with no additional handling fee.
Can I do it from abroad?+
Yes, the notarial video call works from any country. You only need a stable connection, your valid identity document and a digital certificate.
How much does this service cost?+
The quote includes the official notarial fees set by the Notarial Association plus our handling, fixed before you start and with no hidden costs. Request it with no obligation via WhatsApp or the form.
What if I have questions during the process?+
Our team supports you from start to finish via WhatsApp, phone or email, and the notary answers all your legal questions before signing.
